Fulton Trotter Architects are excited to share that Reconciliation Australia have endorsed our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (R.A.P.).
We began our Reconciliation Action Plan (R.A.P.) development journey by engaging both our team and our leaders in understanding the importance of reconciliation within Australia. Over the subsequent months, our R.A.P. Working Group listened to, and collaborated with First Nation representatives, artists and Knowledge Holders. We explored how we might learn about the true history of our country, we sought to understand what “Country” and culture means and how we might engage in reconciliation meaningfully. We are also motivated to see how we can make a difference and understand our sphere of influence.
Fulton Trotter Architects reaches a diverse range of communities across eastern Australia with projects in Brisbane, Sydney and in regional Queensland and New South Wales. We currently have two offices in Australia: Brisbane (Meanjin, on Turrbal Country) and Sydney (Warrane, on Gadigal land). Fulton Trotter Architects currently employs 45 people in Australia with one of our team identifying as a First Nations person.
Individually, and as a collective, we are committed to raising consciousness and awareness of First Nations cultures and histories. We strive to demonstrate respect for our First Nations Peoples, recognising the importance of restoring dignity and promoting equality. Through this action plan, we will actively seek ways to increase opportunities for current and future generations of First Nations Peoples.
Our R.A.P. will provide a structure in which we can respond with accountability and sensitivity through our designs, architectural projects, clients and consultants. It will further explore opportunities for reconciliation, including widening our sphere of influence through future projects, partnerships, and suppliers.
“We believe that implementing a Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan will help enable us to gain a deeper understanding of reconciliation. It will guide us in establishing the best approach to developing respectful relationships and creating meaningful opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”
