Residential Aged Care

The new residential aged care community provided by Southern Cross Care is located in the leafy upper north shore of Sydney. Fulton Trotter Architects provided full interior design services on this project which includes a new 113 bed residential aged care facility, a refurbished existing chapel, as well as the adaptive reuse of an existing heritage listed house.

In collaboration with the client and architect, we provided detailed documentation of the internal layouts, joinery details, materials and finishes, furniture, signage, artwork and décor.

North Turramurra is known for its distinctive native flora, including the scribbly gum, grass trees and the old man banksias. The textures and colours of the bark, leaves and flowers, informed the 3 schemes that uniquely identify each level of the residential care building.

The foyer of the residential care building features polished and contemporary materials including rich timbers, natural stone, and pops of metallic. The lounge areas and resident suites are more homely with muted textures and tones to allow residents to personalise their spaces.

The heritage listed Huon Park House was built as a private residence in the early 1900s and has been repurposed to accommodate a public café, allied health services, staff training spaces as well as short stay accommodation for visitors. In line with heritage guidelines and recommendations, some elements have been restored to their original conditions while other new finishes and fittings were chosen to compliment the existing interior.
