Feros Care is a national aged care provider delivering residential care, telehealth and NDIA services. Fulton Trotter Architects designed a new 750m² office space that provided unique accommodation for 96 staff. This tenancy is also a backup site for the organisation, should their Coolangatta Business Centre operations get interrupted.
Always one to stand out from the pack, the Feros Care team sought an office space that was far from ordinary, with innovative spaces for craft, creativity and collaboration interspersed with more traditional office areas. The ‘longhouse’ is an organisational device introduced into the large floor plan to address this brief. The ‘longhouse’ allows staff population to be divided into four smaller communities and provides a range of meeting spaces, social spaces and functional areas such as print and storage. Centrally locating the gathering spaces within this structure symbolically provides a physical and geographical heart for an organisation that place people at the centre of all that they do.
Materials, colours and selected furniture reference the coastal location and history of the company whose roots emanate from Byron Bay. Indoor greenery, vibrant colours, deck chairs and beach umbrellas set a playful scene for the energetic staff and visitors to go about their day.
