Definition of architecture

The stages on which we live and work.

Why I do what I do

Because I can. Some people don’t have a choice.

When I decided to be an architect …

At a careers night at high school.

If I wasn’t an architect, I’d be …

Professional baseball spectator.

What else I do …

Baseball umpire
Golf
Chauffeur and supporter for my youngest son who plays a lot of baseball.
Support my community through an active role in Rotary.

I did that!?

Retrenched in 1992 by the practice of which I’m now a partner. Offered to work for nothing to help get more work into the office and never lost a day. The rest is history.

I wish I’d designed …

Fallingwater
A better mousetrap

My gangs

Tweed Chamber of Commerce
Rotary Club of Tweed Heads South
Tweed Economic Development Corporation
Surfers Paradise Baseball Club
Gold Coast Baseball Association

My heroes

People who care for others
Homer Simpson

AKA

Two Desserts (a cruel, unjust joke by work colleagues)
Big Fella (an endearing name from Rhys & Myles)
Darl (I don’t think Kym ever uses my given name)

Signature quote

Life wasn’t meant to be easy.
