Fulton Trotter Architects have been working in regional Queensland and New South Wales since the establishment of the practice in 1946. Since that time three generations of Directors and Partners have undertaken commissions for a large number of regional councils.
FTA have enjoyed working in the regions on a wide variety of project types including Libraries / Art Galleries / Interpretive Centres / Auditoriums / Cultural Centres / Fitness Centres / Aquatic Centres / Community Centres / Sports Fields / Visitor Centres / Regional Council Offices / Public Amenities.
At FTA we have had a great deal of experience in working with local communities to create unique design solutions. Factors such as isolation, climate, travel times, soil types and cultural / labor issues can have a major impact on how a building is designed and constructed. We have worked with local councils and their community stakeholders to deliver some wonderful project outcomes.
In the delivery of these projects it is also important to liaise with state government bodies and referral agencies like State Libraries or the Regional Galleries Association, along with the need to maximize the opportunities to involve the local contractors in the delivery of the projects. We have worked successfully with both these groups to create outcomes that adhere to strict briefing and funding requirements but in a way that maximizes local input.
